Spread The Love With The KeywordLuv Plugin

The KeywordLuv Plugin is the answer to all the irritation that has spread amongst blog owners worldwide as it puts an end to supposed spamming comments once and for all. Or so it seems. It is still up to the blog owner to check their comments and whether some spammer has sneaked his way into the door.

keywordluv plugin

After all, we all encourage thoughtful and useful comments that contribute to the conversation don’t we? All too often I still see one liners and or stupid attempts to push somebody’s wares through a comment and I normally simply delete these.

Even if it is from a reputable blogger.

What this KeywordLuv Plugin does is it allows blog commenter’s to insert their name in front of the keyword they’d like to use to hyperlink back to their sites.

It is obvious however that this will only be beneficial for bloggers who use a dofollow principle on their blogs. If you don’t, then you won’t need to worry about this Plugin. Unless of course you want people to put their name into the comment field regardless.

So instead of having Gobala@EasyWordPress.com leaving a comment, it will now look like this Gobala from Easy WordPress

As you can see, this looks way nicer and proper to the eye. It would also encourage readers to actually use their names when commenting on other blogs if they use this KeywordLuv Plugin.

Personally I hate nothing more than bloggers who comment with Fats Credit Cards. How the heck am I supposed to address this person in a return comment?

You tell me.

The KeywordLuv Plugin works on WordPress 2.2+ (tested on WordPress 2.5, 2.3 and 2.2)

At first I thought this was the plug in that shows your latest post feed after you comment. Well, this one is pretty neat too.

  2. Life is Colourful on April 18th, 2008 4:39 pm

Somehow I did not feel this plugin of much use, my 2 cents.

  3. Monika Mundell on April 19th, 2008 2:50 am

@ Kay: it is neat if your blog uses the dofollow attributes. I guess it allows others to link back with their chosen keyword which helps them further with link juice.

@ LiC: fair enough, opinion noted. :)

    Monika
Won’t this encourage more spam? I still use do follow – if I install this I’m encouraging people to leave a comment to get a link back to their site. The person concerned will still have nothing valuable to say!

  5. Monika Mundell on April 26th, 2008 8:29 am

@ David: Mmmhhh….to be honest, you might have a point here. The way I’m thinking is that if you have dofollow you ARE more targeted by spammers anyway.

At least I have personally experienced that on my blog. So in that regard, no you won’t get more spam as I really can’t see this happening.

Also there is software available that actually targets dofollow blog posts and if I was a spammer myself I’d find them either way.

Naturally I could be totally off here, these are simply my thoughts.

I agree that (1) this makes more sense as far as how to address people when there is a dialog in the comments section; and (2) this just seems to make more sense in that a person’s name usually doesn’t have any bearing on their link, so using the name as anchor text doesn’t make sense. Thanks for this post!

if ur blogging about how peeps should use the keyword luv plugin, how come u arent using it? o_O

  8. Monika Mundell on June 9th, 2008 11:05 am

@ Utah Catering: You might have noticed that I wrote the post and the this blog is owned by Gobala. He is entitled to make his own decisions on what he wants to use on this blog.

I simply blog about tools that might or might not interest readers like you. It doesn’t mean we have to use everything we blog about, does it now? :-)

installing luv comment and keywordluv is the two greatest things i’ve done to my blog. It helped increase traffic my blog and traffic increased 3folds! Amazing isn it. I’m sure you’ll be a great success!

Thanks for the useful post, and debate in the comments. There are pros and cons to KeywordLuv and CommentLuv. For me, CommentLuv has a slight advantage as it provides a deep-link to a blog post, as well as a general link to the homepage. Assuming you have keywords in your post-titles, you get the best of both.

We have been using KeyworkLuv and CommentLuv for our WordPress blogs and they are very helpful. As a matter of fact, we believe that every blogger should be using them.

  12. Azam on April 1st, 2009 1:32 pm

It seems like a great plugin. I’m curious as well on why you didn’t use it as well?
Anyway, I will try it out.
    Thanks.

I prefer keywordluv over all the other plugins. This one lets you put keywords in the name area without feeling guilty!

  17. David @Discount Website Hosting on September 7th, 2009 1:33 pm

Hi! My name is David. I recently put commentluv and keywordluv on my new websites and have seen some interesting comments coming in. On come comments I can see that the person has clearly read my post and is at least attempting to add to the conversation (as I am here). On other comments I can see that they completely disregarded my text and are copy-pasting the same darn comment across the Internet! So, for me if can tell that Fats Credit Cards is sincerely trying and using his/her brain I’ll accept the comment and give a link back. Thanks, David

  18. Jackie@Halloween Costume Ideas on September 9th, 2009 8:33 am

  19. steve@kite sufring board on September 13th, 2009 6:13 pm

I use keyword luv on any site i set up, i set up a page telling commenters what comments i want and the reason i want this is bacause the comment are free content that i dont have to create which is great for google beacause its unique content, any tool has good and bad points but remember its also good to link out so i see it as a win win situation…

  20. Katie@ Windows Hosting on October 4th, 2009 1:44 pm

In my experience, I have seen a positive interaction among blogs that use this plugin, not solely for the purpose of link love, but people tend to “like” these blogs better and will actually read the articles for what it’s worth.

  21. David @Christmas Tree Star on October 17th, 2009 1:12 am

Hi! Just wanted to say that I’ve now been using the KeywordLuv and CommentLuv plugins for 6 weeks and have had much better luck doing a few simple posts with them rather than tons of social bookmarking. Highly recommended for anybody who works online! David

  22. ledley @ artificial Christmas wreaths on October 21st, 2009 11:12 pm

Yes, I’ve been using keyword luv for the past couple of months and it has done wonders for my rankings. Strangely enough I don’t get many spam comments either (maybe my sites are too new ?). Combine commenting on keyword luv blogs with article marketing and a bit of video marketing and you should see some great results if my experiences are anything to go by.

  23. Rhonda@SantaHat on October 29th, 2009 1:01 pm

I use this plug-in on mt personal blogs, but not on my e-commerce sites. I have a lot sites that have to do with Christmas and other holidays, and I like to keep the comments more focused.

  24. Frances @ Stevia the Natural Choice on October 30th, 2009 1:32 am

I am just learning about this Plugin. Thanks for the site and all the helpful comments before me. Does anybody know if I can use the plugin on a Blogger site?

  25. Ammiel Joseph F. Garrido@life changing choices on October 30th, 2009 2:30 am

Hi, Can free wordpress hosted blogs still use this plugin? sorry if it sounds so dumb because I am really pretty much a newbie when it comes to blogging and don’t know much with this type of things.

  26. Tom @ Best Hosting Service Web on October 31st, 2009 4:27 pm

I use these plug-in’s too and I think that they have helped my rankings a ton. I do still get some spam comments but like stated above they are easily deleted. Thank you for the site it looks great and it is very informative thanks.

  27. Darvin @ recyclingchristmascard.com on November 2nd, 2009 12:20 pm

I am a true fan of Keywordluv. I’m new to the blogosphere, but it has already done wonders for my blogs both in terms of quantity/quality of commenters and my rankings.

  28. David @Vintage Christmas Stockings on November 3rd, 2009 2:01 pm

Hi! Over the past 3 months I’ve totally stopped social bookmarking and have focused only on writing pages with good content and posting a handful of comments such as this one and have had amazing results with getting my pages indexed and ranked on pp 1-2. Keywordluv is where it’s at for good SEO! David

  29. J @ Christmas Napkins.org on November 7th, 2009 2:43 am

I’ve been using Keywordluv for a little time now and I think its great, It defiantly helps spread the word about our websites.
    Thanks

  30. David on November 17th, 2009 1:43 pm

I use KWluv and Commentluv all the time….sure, you get some spam…but they really serve the purpose for linking and getting the message out there.

  31. Glenn@Best Hosting Service on December 1st, 2009 1:02 am

I have been using the keyword luv plugin for a while now and think it’s great. I have had no problem with spam on my sites, and it really is good for backlinks. More effective than social bookmarking I think. Glenn

  32. Joe @ Reel Mowers on December 14th, 2009 4:55 am

I think Social Bookmarking is a bit over done, at least with this plugin it tends to generate on topic comments, and that’s always great.

  33. Gustav@ Sonic Boom Alarm Clocks on December 14th, 2009 9:36 am

I have been using the nofollow attribute for quite some time on all of my blogs, and I generally had the “nice site” type of comments and other similar ones which I deleted. I started using Keyword Luv and Comment Luv on my last three sites and placed instructions on how a commenter should do a comment, and it has improved slightly. I think that once it becomes more widely known how a “do follow” comment can benefit you, it will be used a lot more by blog owners. I paid for a social bookmarking on a previous site, and quite frankly, it was worthless for SEO. This is my opinion and experience, and perhaps yours is different.

    1. Since i am allowing comments it means my website is DoFollow, how can i change it to Nofollow.
    2. Where can i get these plugins to install on my this WP website/

    Thanks

This plugin is a hit, I’ve seen so many blogs sporting KeywordLuv.

Got something to say?
