Don't Forget to Backup Your Online Business

I had to post this as it might prevent some annoying issues for some of you. Yesterday I lost something…something that is essential to my online success and essential for my work. So what have I lost that is so important?

Well it was…the Internet!

You can stop laughing now, it isn’t a joke and I tell you what happened. I was browsing the net with Firefox as I always do and read about some cool add-ons that might be useful for myself. So following the advice I downloaded them and then.

Nothing!

Without warning, my browser died and no matter which first aid I applied, it didn’t work. All I heard was the beep beep beep of the machine but that was about it.

As you can imagine I panicked, and you know why? Because I was silly enough to uninstall IE some month ago and that silly mistake left me without any browser to access…the Internet!

So guess what, I was a prisoner to my own mistake and I had to find a way to fix it fast. Luckily I had a backup copy on an external hard drive and this allowed me to get a new version installed.

I suppose that either of these add-ons was corrupted which made my browser really sick to the point of dying.

The moral of this story is simple really. Always back up whatever you have, do and save! I know this isn’t breaking news, but we simply tend to take things for granted when they work seamlessly without thinking about the consequences of when they don’t.

Hopefully this will animate you to act now and prepare for when unexpected stuff ups happen.

Hey, I can relate to that.

I once sent my laptop to repair. It was supposed to be a pure case of changing the keyboard. But they ended up changing my hard disk too during their check without asking me first. Then they told me they dumped the old hard disk because it was faulty.

I was stunted. Luckily I had backed up before sending in the laptop. Else…
