Recycle Your Blog Content, Escape Writer’s Block
January 9, 2009 | By Gobala Krishnan | 4 Comments »
On some days the ideas just explode out of nowhere. On other days it’s all held back in the darkest corner of your mind, reluctant to take the long journey out into your computer screen. Bad writing days? Having a temporary writer’s block?
It’s time to check your older posts, find the ones that for some reason the entire world didn’t notice, and recycle them. Here’s how to do it:
- Firstly, edit the publish date to today
- Then, update any broken links and images
- Update certain parts of your content that may be outdated
- Add to the content to make it stronger, and also related tags
- Check your post title – how can you make it more interesting?
- Add a video to the post provide that extra bit of value
- Link keywords in your post to other articles to improve SEO
- Add an image or two to spice up your content’s sexiness
- Publish it!
Don’t be afraid to r-use great content that wasn’t appreciated in the past. Perhaps it wasn’t the right time for that piece, but every post deserves a second chance. Besides, on those darn days when your brain’s all twisted and the keyboard’s lacking some love, why not?

Seriously, blogging should be for those that really like writing. For good writers, writing is like an addiction. If they don’t write several times a day, they feel like something is missing. So, I don’t think anyone should start a blog unless he or she loves to write, or he or she is sure to get good content from other sources.
I totally agree, but even the best writers have difficulty writing on one of “those days”..
