Handle comments with Disqus
When we start off a blog, we long for comments. I still remember how I kept revisiting my first few posts several times a day, just to see if a comment arrived from some god’s soul!
But as your blog begins to get popular and the comments’ section becomes more of a discussion thread, it gets difficult at times to manage the flow of information, users who comment and other relevant stuff. What experts believe today is, that threaded, portable and social commenting is the future of online discussions.
But with the advent of Disqus, such problems are a matter of past.
Disqus is more than just a commenting system. It is more of a forum, where, whenever you post a comment it automatically appears as forum posts at <username>.disqus.com. It also provides RSS feeds for the comments. Moreover, installing Disqus is amazingly easy!
Disqus also allows integration of friendfeed. Click here to know how.
Some key features which Disqus has are:
- Thread based commenting: Forget using @ sign to reply to previous comments. Threads are in!
- Track you comments on different blogs from one Dashboard: Disqus allowed you to track all your comments you would have scribbled at various disqus enabled blogs from a single, extensible and configurable system. You may tweak its look or change its behavior to act exactly how you would like it to.
- Great Integration: Disqus provides awesome integration with Blogger, WordPress, Typepad, MT and Tumblr along with a highly effective spam protection system.
- RSS subscription to comments: For die-hard commenter’s, this happens to be a great tool.
- Rating comments: Readers may rate comments to help make sure only good comments stay in the conversation. Rated comments contribute to a commenter’s reputation, on blogs across the blog-o-sphere.
- Multiple moderators: Disqus allows multiple moderators and an array of moderation options.
I’m sure all your commenting woes would be handled with this smart web-service. Try it out today!

Got something to say?

Just wondering, but do you know if their WordPress integration plugin is WordPress 2.5 compatible?
@ Praval: looks like an interesting tool. I’m not sure about the rating though. I guess my time is limited as it is and spending time rating comments is much like playing around.
Having said that, I realize this will enable some sort of community.
.. hmm i’m quite happy with intense debate at this moment
Commenters are who rate comments, or i missing something???
