Google Sites Is Live – Get Your Google Sites Account Now

Google has finally launched their web application that allows you to build websites using an easy to use interface. Now you can blog, create sites, share platforms, documents and more all from the convenient location of Google Sites.

Check out the short video below and go grab your very own Google URL while they are still available.

If you are already a Google member, then creating your first Google Site will be quick and easy.

Here is what you can do:

  • Single-click page creation
  • No HTML required
  • Customizable look and feel
  • Settings for accessing and sharing information
  • And it’s free!

I’m thinking they are great to use for link building purposes just like a Squidoo page. For all it is worth, I already created my first Google Site page and it was fun and easy to do.

OH wow, Google is always coming out with cool new tools… it seems like every day they have a new toy for me to play with. I have to check this out and see what kind of design I can come up with.

    Hi Monika..
    Thanks for this tip.
I went and tried setting up my own Google site.

You mentioned “I’m thinking they are great to use for link building purposes just like a Squidoo page.”

So basically just use this google site to list out all our blogs / websites?

Would you PLEASE STOP giving me so many great toys to play with??? I’m not getting my work done! :)

@ nurul: I meant it to use them as either a niche by itself or part of a niche site empire.

Yes.. this is a f.ree service… so be aware(do not expect great page rank) or usable plugins that you can drive your business from. Sorry folks!! No… If you want results… Well… We have to work for them… Yes? Do not take me te wrong way.. Google sites has been around a while and deserves substantial levels of kudos.. it is just that we need to be honest about our web presence desires. Hey… If you want to be a business person.. by all means explore. BUT!! You will find it VERY difficult to surpass a self hosted WordPress setup that has all the bells and whistles that makes your carnival parade!!

Hey!! Great service… But.. A self hosted WordPress site will do you far more favors. We can always use such a site to et a backlink (and we all know that will not hurt).Kudos is due to the Google developers. Hooray to the trumpet blowers.. as they signal the coming. Come to think of it I really should be be doing a post and a trackback right now, and as the infamous Ned Kelly once said… “such is life..”

Word press does work great but the more links you have pointing to your site the better. And remember Google lists it stuff on Google. And thats Powerful for your blog or website. And Spiderfood is good for your site

I’m a beginner to web marketing, and would like to see what you mean by “they are great to use for link building purposes just like a Squidoo page”.
Do you mean that making a site at Google site and putting a link to your wordpress site from there is good in the way it is considered good by Google search engine?

Otherwise I don’t understand what’s so good about this service, because Google has already Blogger blog, which is a very major free blog. Also we can have a site with gadget like youtube at iGoogle. So I cannot see what kind of benefit we can have by creating a Google site of my own now. Will you teach me, please? (Sorry I’m not a user of Squidoo, which makes it more difficult to understand what you say…?)

  15. Monika Mundell on June 9th, 2008 11:09 am

@ Kirin: yes, any incoming link to your blog is considered a vote of confidence by Google. It doesn’t mean that you simply go an build link farms. (A link farm is a blog designed solely for the purpose of driving links to your blogs and Google doesn’t approve of them).

But if you build a site that is informative and helpful you can certainly place a link back to your main site from it. The more incoming links your site has, the higher your search engine placement.

Thank you Gobala for this information about Google sites. I will surely look into it.

Got something to say?
