Track Your Blog Stats For Free
Many of us who are serious about making a living on the Internet are concerned about traffic and where it comes from. But not only do we need to understand who sends us traffic, we also need to know what our readers do while they are whiling away on our site.
Therefore we need measures to track our stats effectively.
There are many tools online that are available to do this, some do cost money and others yet are free to peruse. Often the free ones are limited in regards to telling you everything you need to know. For example, we need to know:
- where our visitors come from
- what they click while reading our site
- where they go to from there
Google Analytics is great for many reasons but unfortunately it doesn’t tell you what visitors clicked on to leave the site – hence we miss which ads are working at which don’t!
This is an important point in our tracking efforts that we cannot afford to miss, especially if we pay for Google Adwords or have other advertising campaigns running. What point is there in paying for advertising and not knowing what happens to your money – right?
I found 3 nifty tools that singly used are ok but they don’t give us the full picture.
But wait until your combine them and they become a full on killer machine to track your visitors stats to see the whole picture.
- StatCounter; tracks your traffic bringing keywords and referral sites to see whether your targeting the right keywords
- FeedBurner; doesn’t just offer us with a great way to publish our feed, but it also tracks your visitors activity while they are on your site. You can see where they came from (referring URL) and what pages, posts they viewed on your blog
- MyBlogLog; this is the little sneaky part of the whole trio. MyBlogLog lets you see exactly what ads your visitors click on to opt out! An absolute essential when you do niche marketing. Being able to track your whole niche campaign from the word go all the way to your ads and see whether and how they convert is simply genius.
To use all these tools for free, simply sign up with each one and then create and publish the code they give you on your blog. It really couldn’t be any easier.

Got something to say?

All scripts have some heavy javascript processing in the background. Opting for all the 3 might be great but for blogging beginners it might be a put off since the site becomes to slow to load and that would take their initial readers to hit the back button.
For established bloggers, everything works!
nitinpai: that is a valid concern and worth mentioning. Thanks for pointing this out, good to know.
