Wordpress Plugin for My 2.2 Million BlogRush Credits

blogrush-2million

It’s ok if you don’t believe in BlogRush, but what do you do when you have 2.2 million credits to spend and you can’t simply sell it?

That’s the question I found myself with. Due to the high number of referrals I have in my network, no matter how much I write it has stayed above 2 million impressions for the last 3 months, and generates over 100,000 credits per week. Blogrush doesn’t allow me to sell these impressions, so how do I make use of it?

Most bloggers agree by now that the best way to get traffic from BlogRush is to write a compelling (sometimes annoyingly overboard) headline for each post that you write. But writing such headlines may sometimes alienate your readers especially if the content itself isn’t as phenomenal as the headline sounds.

Also, sometimes your post may be off-topic and the only way to prevent it from using up your BlogRush credits is to create a “filter” in your BR admin page, which takes time and not to mention that you can only do it once BR has already captured the post title via your blog feed.

What if you can show a different headline on BlogRush, and a different one on your actual blog post? It’s evil thinking like that that eventually led me to Pawan Agarwal’s BlogRush Click Maximizer Wordpress plugin.

According to Pawan:

Suppose when you signed up for BlogRush you chose to display your blog in the “Internet marketing” category.

One particular day you make an off topic post about your favorite sports team, or perhaps about your sisters wedding. This post would be grabbed by the BlogRush Network and displayed on other blogs that had been categorized as “internet marketing”.

This would NOT be of interest to bloggers of that site, and your click rate would suffer.

After installing the plugin, you should see a new area appear under Write > Posts. The screenshot above clearly shows what this plugin does:

  1. Allows you to include / exclude posts from your BlogRush feed
  2. Allows you to create a different headline for your BlogRush feed (limited to the recommended 40 characters)
  3. Creates a custom BlogRush feed for your blog to override the default feed. (You must replace your feed setting in BlogRush with this custom feed!)

In the example above, my original blog post title was How Much Money Do You Make Blogging – this isn’t too bad a title but why not go overboard? So I changed the BlogRush version to Do You Really Make Money Blogging? as this sounds more like a controversy or challenge instead of a question.

The only limitation of the current version is that must do the modifications before you publish – no post publishing options. Understandably, once BlogRush has “caught” your post title there’s no way to change it. So if you’re using an offline WYSIWYG editor like Windows Live Writer, than you need to publish each post from within Wordpress itself to make it work.

The point of the whole plugin is that if you DO have BlogRush credits to spend, don’t waste them on irrelevant posts or poorly written headlines. This plugin (aptly named) allows you to maximize your returns from using the BlogRush service. For people like me, now I can finally finish up my credits and get some real traffic to my sites.

Why didn’t BlogRush think of this?

This was interesting.

I have been thinking about removing BlogRush, but now I might have to install this plugin and try to do something about the traffic.

Thanks for sharing.

Someone should write an ebook on how to use BlogRush effectively. I have it on my blog, but don’t have a clue how it really works, or how I should use it.

Interesting Widget, but I need more background before it would do me much good.
